Psalm 23:6 (AMP)
Surely goodness and mercy
and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house
and in the presence of the Lord.
The day started out with my only child, surprisingly, had “twin day” at school and no twin. She overheard a few girls the day before saying that they were going to wear a lime green shirt and star pants. Guess what we do NOT have? That is right! Lime green shirts or star pants. My daughter for the last 9 years has been covered in all shades of Pepto Bismol since birth. Now green and star patterns have entered into the morning with panic.
My thoughts are “Surely, someone has to have pink anything to match my child..”.. “Surely, her dad’s house has a lime green shirt with star pants..”.. “Surely, Mary Poppins is going to show up at the door with the magic bag of stuff..” Then in the midst of the morning storm, I heard God so clear... “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life..” There He is, in all splendor and wonder, God speaks just when I need Him, with all reassurance that this is just a moment and more days of blessings are coming.
Oh, the comfort in His word. As we settled for an aqua shirt and dark glittered jeans, I grabbed my little girl, held her on the couch. I repeated Psalm 23:6 to her as we both cried. I apologized to her that “we do not have the outfit dress code of the day but we can get as close to it as possible. Not the same, I know, but we will do the best we can.” We declared that "day was going to be a good day no matter what."
God is good God. He brings comfort in the time of need. He is the best Father and provider when things go crazy. We had to trust in His wisdom. There were many more mom days that I didn’t understand, again, we just had to trust Him. He knows and He sees all things. His greatness, compassion, and loving-kindness will always be the present help in the time of need.
I challenge you to trust God today in your day of need. When you do not know what to do. Turn to His word that is the light in the darkness and declare “today is a good day, no matter what!”
Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercies all the days of our lives. Father, You are God alone and we thank You for Your loving-kindness in our time of need. Your comfort sustains us and we put all of our trust in You. Your word is our promise that we will see Your goodness and we thank You for it. With all gratitude that is due to Your Holy Name, we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
Mark 10:18 (NIV)
“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered.
“No one is good—except God alone.
Psalm 27:13 (NIV)
I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
2 Samuel 7:28 (AMP)
And now, O Lord God, You are God, and Your words are truth,
and You have promised this good thing to Your servant.
